This 80-square-meter apartment renovation is located in a 1990s residential building on Sukhumvit 55. Once a shared space for a group of university friends nearing graduation, the apartment took on a new role when its occupants moved on. One of them chose to retain the space, transforming it into a private home to begin a new chapter of family life.
The redesign focuses on creating new memories within the existing structure. Internal walls were removed to form a generous open-plan living area that integrates the kitchen. The original ceiling was stripped back to expose the slab above, enhancing spatial height and openness. Openings were carefully aligned to connect exterior windows with those facing the internal courtyard, allowing cross-ventilation when fully opened.
The bedroom was expanded and separated from the living area by sliding aluminum partitions, offering flexibility between privacy and openness. A compact additional room was introduced to accommodate overnight guests.
A palette of light, neutral tones defines the space, accented with moments of vibrant color to create visual interest. The result is a flexible, airy interior designed to evolve with its occupants—supporting both everyday living and the growth of a new family.
